The Conservative MP Ann Winterton, tried to reform the law on abortion to enforce a seven day cooling off period before an abortion takes place. But the Labour MP, Laura Moffatt, said it would lead to delays and deny every woman seeking an abortion the right to decide when it happened. The move was defeated. Peter Mulligan reports.
