Women MPs like to articulate their constituents concerns in the debates in the Commons. This time it was the turn of the Conservative MP Julie Kirkbride, who talked of how the Government's "Lifeboat" compensation scheme for those who have lost their occupational pension was unequal. Simon Jones reports. The first black woman leader of the Lords, Baroness Amos received tributes from her colleagues today as Lady Ashton of Upholland stepped in to take her place.
